Sleep Efficiency (SE) is the ratio of total time spent asleep to the total time spent in bed. A healthy SE is typically considered to be 85% or higher. It is a critical metric used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) to determine if sleep restriction should be tightened or relaxed.

From the moment you get into bed with the intention of sleeping, until you get out of bed.
